Acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine have a rich history of at least five thousand years. Even in ancient times, it was understood that that we are all a microcosm of the universe, and all living beings have energy or a life force termed “Chi”. This energy moves in certain patterns. Within our bodies these energy patterns have certain characteristics that are grouped into meridians that correspond to our twelve internal organs. Over time, these meridians have been anatomically mapped, and their electrical energies recorded. By stimulating points along these meridians, illnesses are treated and health is maintained. In addition, you can utilize certain breathing exercises, movements, foods, herbs, teas, and meditation practices. Our well-being depends on building Chi and keeping it in balance. Acupuncture is an effective method to achieving this balance.
There are a myriad of conditions treated with this technique, including migraines, headaches, sinuses, nose bleeds, Meniere’s disease, tinnitis, TMJ, neck, back and other pain conditions, tennis elbow and carpal tunnel syndrome, asthma, allergies and smoking, nausea and abdominal complaints such as ulcers and irritable bowel syndrome, menstrual cramps and irregularities, and even erectile dysfunction. Basically acupuncture is part of a system termed Traditional Chinese Medicine that views patterns of conditions as they relate to the five elements (earth, wind, fire, water, and metal) in an overall picture. Dr. Yaser is trained to recognize patterns in nature and man to influence changes to help establish and maintain your well-being.
An initial session involves obtaining a history, which may include your sense of energy, eating habits and tastes, sleep patterns, and even bodily changes with weather changes. He will also observe your skin color, tongue, and pulse. Then he may proceed with a treatment that takes about thirty minutes. The number of treatments varies, but averages between 4 to 10 once or twice a week. In addition, herbs or other supplements will probably be recommended as part of your program.
