In our experience, we recommend that you start with some basic non-invasive testing. Many of these are listed below.
Toxicity Questionnaire
Living in a world filled with synthetic products, pesticides, heavy metals and other pollutants can and does influence our symptoms. Undergoing a 21day Detox and cleanse program can help determine your baseline level of health.
Food Journal
Maintaing a journal of what you are consuming for a week provides a snapshot of what may influence your health. For example gluten, a constituent of wheat and other grains, can mimic and precede irritable bowel symptoms, acid reflux, and food allergies. It is found in flavored and instant coffees, ice cream, catsup and chocolate to name a few.
Symptom Survey
Groups of symptoms point out whether we need to view and support glucose handling, particular organs such as the liver or colon, or particular body systems such as the cardiovascular, endocrine, or gastrointestinal. Mental and emotional symptoms may be a nutritional or hormonal deficiency.
Meridian Balancing Analysis
Electrical energy is measured and monitored in various ways. For the heart we use the EKG. For the brain we use the EEG. For the acupuncture system we use the ohmmeter. In Europe the technique is termed “Electroacupuncture according to Voll” or EAV. We measure and monitor the acupuncture meridians (energy pathways) and attempt to balance these meridians with whole food supplements.
Hair Analysis
Hair sample analysis helps determine the metabolic rate, potential cause for burn-out, and the glucose insulin relationship to name a few. Mineral deficiencies and heavy metal burdens can be identified. Corrective action can then be initiated such as chromium and zinc for sugar handling or therapies for the presence of mercury or lead. Reviewing multiple testing modalities helps confirm and assure the quality of results.
Salivary Hormones
For increased energy, stamina, youthfulness and virility, then consider checking your salivary hormones. Female and male hormones along with the hormone excreting glands that includes the adrenals, thyroid and pituitary gives us energy, youthfulness and virility we all seek. Estrogen excess causes weight gain, low testosterone causes impotence, loss of muscle mass and motivation. Cortisone excess can wear you down and cause obesity. Low thyroid is another culprit that robs your energy and causes weight gain. As part of a comprehensive program we recommend measuring and monitoring your hormones.
Gastrointestinal Health
Foods can stress and cause discomfort in the digestive tract. Many people take meds which treat the symptoms, not the cause. We cannot overlook the possibility of foods such as soy, eggs, dairy, gluten or food additives as the culprits for gastrointestinal stress.. Symptoms may also be a result of parasites, bacteria, candida or yeast. A comprehensive analysis that may include a stool sample could be key to finding the root cause of symptoms, particularly those that are chronic.
Provocative Testing
Enzymes are essential in digestion. But did you know that almost every process in the body that requires something to happen requires an enzyme? For these enzymes to work, they need a trace mineral to give it the spark it needs to function. For example, the thyroid needs iodine. The thyroid stimulates metabolism to produce more energy to make ATP, but in order to produce that energy to break down fat, you need cobalt, zinc, copper and iron. These trace minerals can be displaced by heavy metals such as mercury, lead and aluminum, just to name a few. This test identifies heavy metal levels. Certain levels adversely affect health and cause premature aging, memory lapses, neurological deficits or diminished circulation.
AMAS Testing
Anyone who has a family history of cancer, has cancer themselves or is in remission from cancer might consider having this test done. Your immune system responds to cancer before it manifest as an identifiable lesion. Along with other tests it provides a baseline marker to monitor your response to therapy.
Food Sensitivity Testing
Do you know someone who has had extensive testing and blood work and a diagnosis of unknown etiology? Medications are then prescribed to suppress the symptoms. Were one of those tests done to check for food sensitivities? Probably not. The immune system response to over 130 foods is checked with this analysis. If discovered that there is high reactivity to a food, that food is eliminated for at least ninety days while a food rotation program is maintained. After ninety days you may be able to reintroduce and sparingly enjoy that food again, for example chocolate. Unrecognized food sensitivities may cause or irritate headaches, gastrointestinal symptoms, fatigue, and inflammation.
